Thank You

for making the Everyday People Walking Tall fundraiser a success!

About Us

What began as the vision and efforts of just a few individuals working independently to meet needs identified by staff members of the Waukee Community School District, has now become an organized effort to provide dignity and confidence to children, students, and families through the free distribution of clothing to those in need in our community.

Waukee Community Closet aims to benefit students and families in need within the Waukee Community School District and now all of  Dallas County by taking in clothing and bedding donations as well as monetary donations and providing high quality clothing (pre-worn as well as new) and bedding at no charge. By taking care of these basic necessities, it has been shown that students are able to focus on their school work without feeling self-conscious about their lack of clean or well-fitting clothes.

We are located at 77 NE Carefree Lane in Waukee just north of Hickman Rd. near Saints and Los Tres Amigos. There is a donation drop-off area and store atmosphere where families can “shop” for clothing. With a concentrated and united effort of financial donations, clothing donations, and volunteered time, we’ve been able to get up and running quickly and are already serving families.

If you are in need and would like more information about upcoming scheduled shopping days, please see the Events section on this page, or feel free to email us at waukeecommunitycloset@gmail.com. If you would like to donate clothing, also see the Events section for the next scheduled drop-off day. For financial gifts, go to the Donate button located in the Donations section of this site. For volunteer opportunities, look at the Volunteer section below and choose from a variety of ways you can get involved!

Need Clothing?

If you live in Dallas County and are experiencing a financial hardship that is effecting your family’s ability to obtain necessary clothing items (clothes or shoes that fit, that are clean and hole-free, that are weather appropriate, etc.), community families and business have provided an outlet where these can be obtained free of charge through the Waukee Community Closet. We offer regular “shopping” days where you can pick out clothing items to fit your family member’s needs. Please see the events section for the next shopping opportunity.
